How to Increase Your Likes Page By 50% With No Work
Melissa Mitchell | Social Media31 Oct 2010
I am a major social media nut. I love to use social networking for prospecting for my personal network marketing business, as well as my other internet businesses. Honestly, there is just not a better place to build a brand for yourself.
And never has it been so easy.
Create a facebook account, then create a facebook like page and you’re off to the races!
A lot of people struggle though when it comes to promoting their fan pages. They spend countless hundreds of dollars of Facebook ads, or spamming their friends message boxes with links, for little to no results at all.
Sounds like your problem?
(And if you don’t have a Facebook like page you’re missing out on sooooo much free viral marketing you need to get one or get out of this business!)
Well there is a very easy solution to this.
In fact when I started implementing this it increased my newest like page (That has been grown purely organically) by over 50% of new likes. What is cool is that the solution is bringing more people to my The Adventurous Entrepreneurs like page than back when I was doing all of that VERY hard work educating people on business principles.
See, I stopped always educating people and I did something… wonderful…
I began to ENTERTAIN!
So many people think they need to just keep on adding value by throwing how to setup an Aweber autoresponder, or how to do a camtasia video (Using camtasia of course), which is all fine and should be done but…
Ever thought about just how many of those there are? They can get boring.
Especially for the advanced marketers that could be real heavy hitters in your business. Instead why not entertain them as well as adding value?
For example of one the extremely goofy things I did that increased my page’s likes so much was a two-day contest I held.
I can already hear it now….
“But Gregory! I don’t have anything to give away for a contest! I am broke & hopeless!!”
Ha, have no fear my apprentice! You know what the prize was for my contest? It wasn’t an ebook, a free report or even anything physical. Though it was a digital product of sorts…
The contest was that everyone who liked my page The Adventurous Entrepreneur, would be automatically enrolled to enter into my contest. The winner would be selected completely randomly, and would receive the grand prize of…
Being the FIRST person on the entire internet to see my brand new haircut.
I know. Stupid right?
But stupid can sell!
The fact of it was, people thought it was hilarious that I went from usually very serious blog posts to a more relaxed and very sarcastically funny contest that I promoted for an entire two days.
The winner was laughed her butt off when she got the picture of my fohawk in her inbox, and loved it! You bet she was talking about it on her facebook too.
So the lesson here is when you’re trying to promote your fan page organically, add value but almost more importantly you need to seek to entertain. Make people laugh, cause ultimately blog posts and page updates are little escapes for people from reality.
View it like a magazine, or a television episode. Or maybe even better, a radio show.
If you don’t entertain people, do you really think people are going to listen?
Try it. Add tons of valuable information without any character or trait.. you’ll find that not many people are going to want to really listen to you.
Once you’ve built up a character though to people, a brand that makes them laugh, feel good and educates them… well you’ve just became the Emperor of Rome. People will start coming to you, asking you what you do, and how they can buy stuff from you!
Tell you the truth, it’s pretty awesome.

It is great fun to update Facebook pages and stay in touch with your fans that way too.
I’ve heard this from so many different mentors and sometimes I find it hard to be witty all the time but I agree that you can’t always be serious.
Great info! I have a son at http://www.tubeforchrist.com that could benefit from these tips…Thanks
Thank you for visiting my blog! I couldn’t agree more that using a Facebook Page is a great way to stay in touch with clients. MM
